Olvera Street
Olvera Street is called the birthplace of Los Angeles. It is a must see, if you visit Los Angeles, it is filled with shops and excellent restaurants. My favorite being "La Golondrina" or the house of swallows. They claim to be the 1st Mexican cafe, established by Consuelo Castillo Bonzo in 1924. La Golondrina menu offers many specialities to include Tacos Suaves, Ceviche, Cochinita Pibil, Chille Relleno (stuffed with crab) in addition, to all the traditional Mexican dishes, also homemade tortillas(yum). They are most famous for there Flan (a custard type dessert). They claim to add a special ingredient to the flan that gives the extra special flavor. I have tasted many Flan's and I would agree it is one of the best.
I also picked up a large (lead-free) bean pot for a great price.
